Despite the page saying 720p, the TV can actually go up to 1080p (it is even listed on the box as being able to) and it does so beautifully. While the picture is rather impressive for its price, you will soon find why the TV is set as a cheap option once the sound is turned on.The sound is bad... I mean REALLY bad. It sounds like they tore apart two cheapy cell phones, took out their speakers and put them into the TV. It is terrible sounding... I suggest picking up some sound system solution like a sound bar to fix the set. Some other issues I came across as well is the placement of the remote sensor. For some reason, it is mounted on the right side of the TV near the power LED, which is very annoying. Instead of aiming right at the TV, you have to aim at the right corner to do anything, and even then the controller messes up. Also, if you have cable or dish,... I could not imagine paying more for a 3rd TV in my house. Vizio and other brands are offering bare bones 32" TV for $250 range now days. If this is going to be a 2nd TV for the bedroom then I would encourage you to look at LED TVs because this TV doesn't have the solid picture quality you are looking for. I use it for a 3rd TV in the office. The Cinema mode is OK. I watch occassional movies, TV shows, and I have it hooked up to a computer as a display. It took some time to get used to the picture quality, but I find it acceptable for the price. I would encourage you to consider this TV at a bargain for the office, the kids room, or workout room. I am very happy with my purchase. It is a very good quality TV for comparatively law price. The only think you will need to do is connect it properly and figure out in MENU to set for certain cable. I read reviews where people would complain that TV didn't show anything (while was connected properly) except for "NO SIGNAL", but I guess they didn't set up MENU properly. It took me a while to figure it out (be honest I was about to agree with those negative reviews). I enjoy my TV and getting prepare to celebrate the Christmas! |

I stumbled on this great price for a television at Wal-Mart, I was so shocked at how low the price was that I was going to throw it right in the cart and be done with it, just a quick impulse buy right? Luckily for me, my wallet, and my kids my wife was there as the voice of reason. Research it first she said, so I did since she is always right, and she was. Let’s just say the reviews are not favorable at all for the Coby television, and the last thing I want to do is buy an HD television to replace it in 3 months. I am already looking to replace all three televisions in the house since I upgraded to the Hopper DVR from Dish. It has 3 high definition feeds that don’t need a big clunky receiver at them, which is a bonus in my book. A coworker at Dish also told me the Hopper has built in picture in picture in it so I can watch the Bronco’s on half the television and the RedZone channel on the other half and never miss a play. I know though that is won’t be on this Coby.
