The 211 is set to output 1080i.I just plugged everything in and wa-la, it just worked. It came up in "wide" mode - not certain if that's the default or if it changes depending upon input. My office has to be "noisy" RF-wise. Although we don't have any land-line and thus cordless phones, I do run a 802.11n setup and I have about 6 computers on around the receiver. My cell phone (iphone) is also sitting within 2 ft of the receiver. I shut the door to the bedroom - it had no impact on PQ or signal. I get 3 bars on the brightview OSD for signal strength. Switched to wide mode off and it didn't make a difference - however, I suspect it would if I was trying to send a 1080p signal. Now for the crucial info...how far is my transmitter from the receiver? I bought this to use to watch TV out by the pool on game day and to eliminate the long HDMI cable that I had been dragging back and forth each weekend and hanging out a window. So far I have tested it outside and the picture is as clear as it was when the HDTV was connected by HDMI directly to the cable box. My setup outside is definitely pushing the limits of the 33 foot NLOS so it took some time to find a placement of the receiver that would allow it to connect to the transmitter. But once connected, I let it run for about four hours and never lost the signal. While I bought this for game day outside I found that I can also use it during the weekdays when we are not outside to eliminate a second cable box in our exercise room. That setup puts the receiver about 20 feet from the transmitter and works perfectly as well. We are going to end up saving over $17 a month... For one, the range is not that great especially through any walls. The other is that there is an issue with DirecTV receivers where for some reason it blanks out on the just the local channels (CBS, NBC, ABC and FOX). It works fine with all of the other channels like ESPN, etc.. Brite View has no solution at this point, but maybe they'll come up with one. I suggest you review their web site forums first if you plan to use with DirecTV to see if they get it fixed. I'm sending mine back because I can't use it as is and I'm not risking them not fixing the issue. It is a new product so maybe they will release a firmware update later. If you can live with the limited range and you don't have DirecTV it may work for you. |
